WEST POINT, N.Y. – After two five-set performances on Friday and Saturday versus Bucknell and Lehigh, respectively, freshman Olivia Fairfield garnered her fourth straight Molten Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors on Monday afternoon.
Fairfield contributed 12 kills and had an average hitting percentage of .320 in the Black Knights’ 3-2 victory over Bucknell on Friday night in Lewisburg, Pa. The Iowa City, Iowa, native averaged 2 kills per set and totaled eight blocks between both matches.
The plebe middle blocker holds the second place spot in the conference weekly standings with an average hitting percentage of .364 behind American’s Kelly McCaddin. Fairfield also ranks seventh in the weekly poll for kills with 214 in her first season at Army. This week's certificate marks the fourth straight Rookie of the Week honors for Fairfield and the fifth recognition of the 2013 season.
Along with Fairfield’s citation, sophomore outside hitter Nicole Perri earned Patriot League Honorable Mention laurels. Perri had a career best of 23 kills versus Lehigh and tallied 15 kills in the victory over Bucknell. Perri managed an average hitting percentage of .309 over the weekend adding nine blocks between both matches.
