Win Streak Reaches Six With 3-0 Victory At Manhattan
Junior outside hitter Ariana Mankus and sophomore middle blocker Megan Wilton combined for 35 kills, while freshman setter Mary Vaccaro recorded her third-straight double-double (assists, digs), in a 3-0 non-league win at Manhattan on Wednesday night. The Black Knights extended their win streak to six matches and improved to 18-6 overall.

Army is coming off a 1-1 weekend in which it produced an emotional win over rival Navy on Friday night before falling to defending champion American on Saturday. The Manhattan match ends an eight-match homestand for the Black Knights.

The Black Knights enter Wednesday night's match leading the Patriot League in kills (13.52 per set), assists (12.65) and digs (18.12). Army ranks ninth nationally in digs per set.

Individually, senior co-captain Ariana Mankus tops the conference averaging 3.38 kills per set. Junior libero D.J. Phee leads the Patriot League and ranks 19th in the NCAA averaging 5.48 digs per set. Mankus' 10 digs against American last Saturday put her in the Patriot League's top 10 for career digs. She needs just four kills to crack the conference's top 10 list in that category.

In addition to Mankus powering the Army offense, junior outside hitter Margaux Jarka and freshman middle blocker Zoe Kreitenberg are averaging 2.78 and 2.15 kills per set, respectively. The Black Knights have utilized a pair of setters this season with freshman Vanessa Edwards providing a solid complement to reigning Patriot League Setter of the Year Mary Vaccaro. The duo enter Wednesday night's match averaging 9.46 and 3.48 assists per set, respectively. Vaccaro was one kill shy of recording a rare triple-double with nine kills, 19 assists and 10 digs in the Black Knights' win over Navy last week.

Identical to Army, Manhattan has been victorious in four of its last five matches. The Jaspers posted a 16-15 overall record a year ago and fell just shy of qualifying for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament. Sophomore outside hitter Malia McGuinness earned second team All-MAAC honors in 2011 and is currently averaging 2.67 kills per set a year later. Junior outside hitter Mariana Furquim leads the team with a 3.13 kills-per-set average to go with 3.24 digs per set.

Defensively, both Army and Manhattan rank amongst the NCAA leaders in digs. The Jaspers' 18.21 digs per set rank seventh nationally.
