WEST POINT, N.Y. – Freshman outside hitter Olivia Fairfield earned her second Molten Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors for her efforts on the volleyball court helping Army to a pair of conference roads wins over the weekend.
The Iowa City, Iowa, native helped the Black Knights improve their record to 7-8 with back-to-back wins over Loyola and preseason favorite American over the weekend. Fairfield is the only rookie player to start and compete in every match of the season thus far.
Fairfield came out of the weekend with 29 kills, with an average hitting percentage of .429 against Loyola and .406 against American. The plebe outside hitter also contributed a block in both matches.
Over the season, Fairfield has become an offensive force at the net ranking second with 174 kills. Her efforts as an outside hitter have not only helped the Black Knights to seven victories but she has also placed third for hitting percentage and seventh in blocks on the Patriot League statistical leaders list. This is Fairfield’s second Patriot League Rookie of the Week recognition after earning her first on Monday, Sept. 23.
