WEST POINT, N.Y. – In week four of nominations, Army scored weekly honors as freshman middle blocker Olivia Fairfield copped Molton Patriot League Rookie of the Week after a standout weekend on the volleyball court.
The Iowa City, Iowa, native helped guide the Black Knights to a 2-0 Patriot League start with wins against Lehigh and Bucknell over the weekend. Fairfield is the only freshman player to compete in every match of the 2013 season thus far.
Fairfield hit .268 over eight sets, with 10 kills in the match against Lehigh and eight kills against Bucknell. She led the Black Knights in blocks (five) between the two matches.
During her first year at West Point, Fairfield has made her way onto the Patriot League statistical leaders list coming in number seventh for hitting percentage. Fairfield has 135 kills in 48 sets with an average hitting percentage of .321.
