WEST POINT, N.Y. - After totaling double-digit kills in a pair of Patriot League wins over the weekend, volleyball senior Megan Wilton picked up the Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon. She is the first volleyball player to be honored in the 2013-14 season.
Wilton averaged 3.38 kills per set and a .333 hitting percentage in wins over Lehigh (3-2) and Bucknell (3-0) on Friday and Saturday, respectively. After leading the team with 17 kills in the match against Lehigh, Wilton also contributed 10 kills in the 3-0 sweep against Bucknell that helped Army to go 2-0 in Patriot League play and improve its record to 5-7.
Coming back full time this weekend after last season's injury, Wilton not only contributed with 27 kills but averaged a .400 hitting percentage in the match against Lehigh on Friday night, in addition to six blocks in the matches combined.
The Roseville, Calif., native also received honorable mention on the Patriot League Weekly Volleyball Awards for her efforts over the weekend.
