CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - For the second week in a row, the Molten Patriot League Player of the Week comes from Army as sophomore setter Mary Vaccaro picked up the award on Monday afternoon.

No stranger to Patriot League weekly honors, Vaccaro set a league record with eight Molten Patriot League Rookie of the Week citations in 2011. This marks her first Player of the Week certificate of her young career.

A native of Orinda, Calif., Vaccaro's performance at the West Point Challenged stood tall and exemplified her growing versatility. The reigning Patriot League Setter of the Year, Vaccaro continued to quarterback Army's offense and averaged 9.67 assists per set over three matches. In addition, Vaccaro shifted to outside hitter for a rotation, leading to a career-high eight kills and a .727 hitting percentage (zero errors) in a win over Sacred Heart on Sunday. Her eight kills led all players in the match, while she added a season-high three total blocks.

Vaccaro averaged 2.00 kills and 2.22 digs per set, while enjoying a .387 hitting percentage during Army's 2-1 weekend.

A first team All-Patriot League honoree a year ago, Vaccaro currently leads the conference with a 10.31 assists-per-set average. She joins junior middle blocker Megan Wilton on the list of Army players to garner Patriot League Player of the Week honors this season.

In a rematch of the 2011 Patriot League title match, Army meets defending champion American this Friday at 7 p.m. in Washington, D.C. The Black Knights visit rival Navy on Saturday at 8 p.m. with the annual "Star" match on the line. Fans are encouraged to follow @Army_Volleyball on Twitter to stay up-do-date on all of the action.
