ITT Knight Vision Interviews Ariana Mankus
WEST POINT, N.Y. -
Junior OH Ariana Mankus led Army in kills and digs over a four matches at the fourth annual West Point Challenge last weekend and her standout effort led to Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors on Monday morning.
Mankus averaged 4.07 kills and 4.14 digs per set to lead the Black Knights and earn All-Tournament Team honors for the second time this season. She registered her fifth and sixth double-doubles (kills, digs) in Sunday wins over Dartmouth (3-1) and Marist (3-0), respectively.
The Lisle, Ill., native totaled 57 kills on 137 attempts over four matches. She hit for a .299 averaged, while also contributing five service aces and five total blocks.
Mankus, a two-time All-Patriot League selection, has reached double-figure kills in seven matches and double-figure digs eight times this season. She has played an integral role in Army's 7-3 start.
The Black Knights went 3-1 to capture second place at their own tournament. Freshman S Mary Vaccaro joined Mankus on the All-Tournament Team.
Army returns to action at the Yale/Quinnipiac Tournament this weekend. The Black Knights visit Quinnipiac on Friday night and play a pair of matches on Saturday against Yale and New Hampshire in New Haven, Conn.
