Beth Merrigan, formerly Beth Bellinger, was a four-year varsity letter winner at The United States Military Academy while earning a bachelor's of science degree. A team captain as a senior, Merrigan was a three-time All-Patriot League selection and the 1998 Patriot League Rookie of the Year.

After concluding her collegiate volleyball career, Merrigan served as a graduate assistant to the volleyball team at West Point. She then attended the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course in Ft. Lee, Virginia, before spending the next five years of her career in Alaska. First stationed at Ft Wainwright, she deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Later, she commanded a Rigger Company at Ft. Richardson, Texas, before returning to Virginia for the Captain's Career Course and to attend graduate school at the University of Virginia.

Merrigan played for the All-Army Volleyball squad in 2005 and served as a team captain. She led the squad to a first-place finish at the Inter-Service Championship and was later selected to captain the All-Armed Forces team.

A native of Kalamazoo, Mich., Merrigan was a four-year letterwinner at Kalamazoo High School. She led the team to a state championship and garnered all-state honors in 1997. She played on the junior Olympic circuit for Dead Frogs Volleyball Club for seven years, during which the team placed third nationally for the AAU 16 and under division and 5th nationally for the USVBA 17 and under division.

Merrigan and her husband, Nate, an instructor in the Department of Military Instruction, reside at West Point.
