Army Splits In Two For Weekend Events

WEST POINT, N.Y.  – The Army women’s tennis team will continue its fall tournament slate with a pair of events this weekend, as the Black Knights split in two for the Old Dominion/Hampton Roads Invitational in Newport News, Va., and the Lehigh Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa. Matches for both tournaments are scheduled from Friday through Sunday.

Joining the Black Knights at Lehigh will be Bucknell, Loyola and Temple. Army will begin play at 3:30 p.m. on Friday against the host team in both singles and doubles play. Saturday and Sunday’s events will include the final rounds of both singles and doubles action.

A few states away the remaining will compete in the Old Dominion/Hampton’s Roads Invitational hosted by Old Dominion.

The Black Knights most recently hosted the West Point Invitational in which they competed against 13 teams at home. Multiple singles players, including sophomore Kelly Daniels and senior co-captain Jamila Paul made it to the final rounds of their brackets. Freshman Taler Brazell, took the Flight D singles backdraw title after falling behind in the main bracket.

Elle and Della Taylor found success in doubles play as they advanced to the final round of Flight A. The sister duo captured three wins before falling in the final match.
