CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Year Natalie Allen was named the women’s tennis Player of the Month on Thursday, capturing the final monthly recognition of the season. The April award is the first of Allen’s career while she becomes the second consecutive Black Knight to earn the monthly certificate.
Allen, who was named to the All-Patriot League second team earlier in the week, went 8-0 in singles action in the month of April including 7-0 against opponents from the Patriot League. All eight victories were collected in straight sets, while three were captured at the conference tournament. The Shoreline, Wash., native shared tournament MVP honors with junior co-captain Erin Colton after becoming the first Army player in 11 years to win three matches at the Patriots.
Allen enters Friday’s NCAA Championship match at No. 8 Alabama with a 29-7 record. The 29 wins rank tied for third all-time on the Academy’s single-season list, while her nine match win streak is second on the team behind Jamila Paul (13), who was named March’s Player of the Month.
