WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army looks to continue its home stretch of 12 matches at Lichtenberg Tennis Center this weekend as the Black Knights (8-1) are set to host Farleigh Dickinson and Albany this Friday. Army will kick off its competition at 3 p.m. when they go head-to-head with the Knights followed by a 7 p.m. match versus the Great Danes on Friday night. The Black Knights initial match versus St. John’s on Saturday has been rescheduled, date pending.
Army is coming off a 2-1 match weekend after hosting St. Bonaventure, Rutgers and Siena this past Sunday. The Black Knights came away with a 4-3 win versus the Bonnies after freshman Caroline Lorenzini clinched the match with a three-set singles win. Army faired to be less fortunate when it was shut out 7-0 by Rutgers, but came back to win its final match of the day, 6-1, versus the Saints.
Farleigh Dickinson head into this weekend’s competition boasting a 3-1 overall record, as the Knights are coming off a 4-3 win versus Temple last weekend. Army holds a 9-3 all-time record over FDU since 1988.
The Black Knights also hold an 18-1 all-time record over Albany who heads into this weekend with a 5-2 record. The Great Danes have been idle since February, 9, where they came away with a 6-1 win over Hofstra, a 4-3 victory over Marist and a 4-2 win over Hartford.
Following this weekend’s action the Black Knights will head back to Lichtenberg Center to host a total three matches on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1. Army will take on NJIT (4 p.m.) on Friday and both Marist (10 a.m.) and Quinnipiac (2 p.m.) on Saturday. Fans are encouraged to follow @Army_WTennis for the latest updates and results.
