WEST POINT, N.Y.  – The Army women’s tennis team wrapped up double-header at Lichtenberg Tennis Center on Saturday, after the Black Knights swept Marist, 7-0, and defeated Quinnipiac 6-1. The Black Knights (13-1) finished the evening with a total of six doubles wins and eleven of twelve singles victories.

Army opened its competition against the Red Foxes by sweeping doubles play. Black Knights’ sister duo of Elle and Della Taylor highlighted doubles action, allowing no points to be scored in an 8-0 victory over Callie Morlock and Melissa Carlay. Senior co-captain Jamila Paul and teammate sophomore Carolyn Pitman continued their win streak, after besting Marielle Campbell and Katie Seitz, while senior co-captain Margaret Iliev partner Carly Riney outscored Karly Pang and Nikki Rohan, 8-5.

In singles play versus Marist, Army managed six wins on the day, allowing no more than four points to be scored against it.

Coming off their win over Marist, the Black Knights moved onto sweep doubles play over Quinnipiac, to earn the first point of the match. Paul and Pitman, who are now 14-0 overall this season, rallied eight points over the Bobcat’s Rachel Horton and Kelsi Oliphant’s four to win second doubles, while Iliev and teammate freshman Nancy Porter came away with a 8-6 decision over Sydney Young and Mary Chupa.

Army went on to claim five of six matches in singles competition, rounding out the day with a 6-1 win over Quinnipiac. Paul, Pitman and Elle Taylor were joined by sophomore Gabriella Spindler and freshman Allyson Hayley in the winner’s circle, after Spindler’s, 6-4, 6-0, victory over Young and Hayley’s, 6-2, 6-0, win over Danielle Reyes.

The Black Knights will open Patriot League play in three weeks and close out 19-straight home matches at Lichtenberg Tennis Center. Army will host league rivals, Lafayette on Friday, March 21 at 1 p.m., before hosting Colgate (9 a.m.) and Holy Cross (3 p.m.) on Sunday, March 23.
