WEST POINT, N.Y. - Senior co-captain Jamila Paul and sophomore Carolyn Pitman remain untouched in doubles competition, following Army's 5-2 victory over NJIT on Friday night. The Black Knights (11-1) took on the Highlanders in Lichtenberg Tennis Center, in which Army dominated singles competition, after falling to NJIT in doubles play.
Army's sole doubles win comes from Paul and Pitman who now own a 13-0 overall record in doubles play this season. The Black Knights duo defeated NJIT's senior Natalie Melibeu and junior Carolina Zanotta, 8-4, in the second flight during Friday night's match.
Following NJIT's doubles victory, Army came back to dominate singles play, winning five of the six matches played. Pitman, who came out of second singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Melibeu, was joined by teammates sophomore Gabriella Spindler, senior Della Taylor, junior Ellie Taylor and Nancy Porter in the winner's circle.
The Black Knights will head back to Lichtenberg Tennis Center for two matches on Saturday, including Marist (10 a.m.) and Quinnipiac (3 p.m.). A full recap and results can be found on goARMYsports.com following the competition. Fans are also encouraged to follow @Army_WTennis for updates.
