WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army softball head coach Michelle DePolo released the 2013 schedule which has the Black Knights playing 36 of their 56 games on the road with fans being able to catch the remaining 20 games at the Army Softball Complex.

The Black Knights will have several new faces in the lineup following the graduation of four seniors from last year's squad that set a school-record with 37 wins and advanced to the championship finals of the Patriot League Tournament.

Army heads south for the first 20 games of the season starting with the Black Knights participating in tournaments in the states of Alabama, North Carolina and Virginia. Army opens the season at the Plainsman Invitational hosted by Auburn University Feb. 8-10 with the Black Knights playing five games to include taking on the host Tigers, who posted a 33-23 mark last spring and advanced to the NCAAs. Furman, Kent State, Austin Peay and East Tennessee State round out the field.

Next up on the tournament circuit is the Charlotte Classic hosted by UNC-Charlotte (Feb. 16-17) where Army takes on the 49ers in its opener on Feb. 16 followed by Drexel later in the day. On Sunday, Feb. 17, the Black Knights face Youngstown State in the morning followed by the championship game at 2 p.m. and the consolation game at 4 p.m. in the round robin competition.

Army heads to the Norfolk State University Tournament (March 2-3) as part of the four-team field that includes Delaware, Mid-Hudson rival Marist and the host Spartans.

The Black Knights' return to West Point will be short lived as the team prepares for its annual trek to the state of Florida for a challenging eight-game schedule at the Rebel Spring Games (the field will be announced later) over a week's span (March 9-17).

Upon its return home, Army hits the ground running playing four doubleheaders (three on the home front) over an eight-day span. The Black Knights make their home debut hosting FDU (March 20) followed by Rider (March 24) and Marist (27) with a visit to St. Peter's (March 23) in between in the final tune-up before opening Patriot League competition.

Army plays just eight of its 20-game conference slate at West Point starting with Colgate the last weekend in March (30-31). The Black Knights defeated the Raiders, 4-3, in the opening round of last year's league tournament. A midweek home doubleheader with Delaware is slated for April 2 before taking to the road the next two weekends visiting league rival Holy Cross (April 6-7) and defending champion Lehigh (April 13-14) in a rematch of last year's championship game.

The next eight games will be played on the home front starting with a midweek twinbill against in-state rival Iona on April 16 before closing out the home portion of its league slate hosting a four-game series with Bucknell (April 20-21).

Army puts the finishing touches on its home slate hosting Yale in a doubleheader on April 24 before heading to Pennsylvania (April 27-28) for a four-game series with Lafayette that closes out the league portion of its schedule. The Black Knights defeated the Leopards, 7-0, in last year's league tournament to advance to the championship finals for the first time since 2006.

The final regular-season game finds Army heading to upstate New York to visit Albany on May 1 prior to the Patriot League Tournament (top four teams) slated for May 9-12 at the home of the highest seed.

The Black Knights return 10 veterans from last year's squad, to include four all-league players in senior team captain Alex Reynolds, junior Amanda Nguyen and sophomores Morgan Lashley and Rae Anne Payleitner. Lashley made Patriot League softball history as the first player to garner a pair of major awards in the same season with her selection as both Pitcher and Rookie of the Year.
