WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army's softball team continues its 10-game road stretch Wednesday when it visits Drexel for a non-league doubleheader with first pitch in Philadelphia at 2 p.m. The Black Knights and Dragons were originally scheduled to play at the Charlotte Classic in February, but snow forced the cancellation of the tournament.

The Black Knights (18-15) posted a 4-2 mark last week starting with a doubleheader sweep of Delaware, 4-3 and 7-0, and closing with a four-game Patriot League series at Holy Cross over the weekend where Army went 2-2.

Army swept the Crusaders the first day, 3-1 (10) and 4-2. Senior Alex Reynolds' two-run single in the top of the 10th snapped a 1-1 deadlock in the first game, and she was one of two runs knocked in by freshman pinch hitter Bernadette Cardon's RBI double in a come-from-behind nightcap decision.

The opening day sweep earned Army a share of first place in the Patriot League standings with defending champion Lehigh, but the Crusaders took both ends of Sunday's twinbill, 7-2 and 2-1, to knock the Black Knights out of that spot as they slipped to fourth place (4-4).

Army ranks among the leaders in the Patriot League with junior outfielder Amanda Nguyen first in hits (46) and stolen bases (20), freshman third baseman Kasey McCravey is the leader in runs scored (29) and total bases (53) with sophomore RHP Morgan Lashley setting the pace in strikeouts (118), wins (14) and innings pitched (156.0).

The Black Knights are batting .289 with Nguyen setting the pace with a .371 batting average. Reynolds, who is in the midst of an eight-game hitting streak, is batting .355 with 39 hits followed by freshman Kasey McCravey (.339) and junior Marina Northup (.314). Junior shortstop April Ortenzo leads Army with 23 RBI, which ranks third in the league, with Reynolds and McCravey closed behind with 20 runs batted in.

Army has compiled a 3.00 team ERA with Lashley posting a 2.78 mark and freshman Braetana Roy next at 3.38.

Drexel (10-24) is in the midst of a six-game losing streak, and is 0-9 in its conference (Colonial Athletic Association). Delaware, also a member of the CAA, took was swept by the Black Knights last week after taking two from the Dragons (6-3, 2-0). Two of Drexel's wins were against Patriot League member Bucknell by identical 3-1 scores.

The Dragons are batting .210 with a 6.65 ERA. Offensively, Hannah Parrish has set the pace with 27 hits posting a .273 batting average. Jenn Reading is next at .268 with a team high 13 runs batted in. In the circle, Tarak Konopka has pitched 102 innings with 80 strikeouts.

Live states for the games will be available via GameTracker by logging onto Army's official athletics website ( In-game Twitter updates will also be offered through the official Twitter handle (@Army_WSoftball).

The Black Knights return to Patriot League competition this weekend when the team heads to Bethlehem, Pa., to take on defending champion and preseason favorite Lehigh. Army and the Mountain Hawks last met in the championship round of last year's Patriot League Tournament with Lehigh taking a 2-0 decision.
