KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Sophomore right-hander Morgan Lashley fired a four-hit shutout and Army struck for a single run in the third inning and four runs in the sixth inning in a 5-0 defeat of Robert Morris in the Black Knights (5-6) first blanking of the season and second win of the day at the Rebel Spring Games Monday evening at the Osceola Softball Complex.

Senior second-baseman Alex Reynolds keyed Army's offense having a hand in three of those runs driving in a pair and scoring once as the Black Knights recorded their third straight victory.

Four times Army turned away scoring chances for Robert Morris as the Colonials had runners in scoring position in the second, third, fifth and sixth innings. Each time Lashley (4-5) set them down on a fly out to left field, a pair of strikeouts and a groundout in going the distance in her eighth start of the year. She struck out five batters and issued three walks facing 28 batters.

Army scored a run in the top of the third with two outs on junior April Ortenzo's RBI single up the middle delivering classmate Amanda Nguyen (2-for-4), who beat out an infield single and stole second base, for all the scoring needed as the Black Knights took a 1-0 lead.

Starter Geena Badolato did not allow Army to plate an insurance run until the sixth inning when the Black Knights pushed across four runs on five hits sandwiched around an error before chasing her, but the damage was done. Nguyen, who led off with a single and moved to third base on Ortenzo's infield single and throwing error by the pitcher, scored on freshman Kasey McCravey's RBI single up the middle.

Reynolds ripped a two-run double to right-center field delivering Ortenzo and McCravey to boost Army's lead to 4-0. Haileigh Stocks relieved Badolato, taking over with no outs and Reynolds at second base. After inducing the first batter she faced to ground out, Stocks walked Paige Vallejos followed by Ali Cleinmark's RBI single up the middle that loaded that bases. Bernadette Cardon drew a walk to drive in Reynolds for a 5-0 advantage before Stocks got out of inning on a strikeout and groundout. The Black Knights collected seven hits off two pitchers with Nguyen and Ortenzo each collecting two hits in four at bats

Lashley retired six of the next eight batters she faced in recording both wins of the day limiting batters to a stingy .158 average. The right-hander threw hitless ball over the 10.2 innings she pitched, struck out 12 batters and issued three walks in facing 42 batters.

Army outscored its opponents 17-6 the first day at the Rebel Spring Games with three players collecting five hits each. Reynolds, 5-for-8 (to include two doubles) with four RBI and two runs scored, batted a sizzling .625 with a .875 slugging percentage and .667 on-base percentage.

Nguyen and McCravey each went 5-for-9 with three runs scored batting .556. McCravey collected five RBI on the day along with a .667 slugging percentage as Army's offense recorded 24 hits batting .375 while defensively holding its opponents to just 10 and a .196 batting average. The Black Knights made just one error in 57 chances while their opponents made three.
