Patriot League Release

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army juniors Jaclyn Kalik, Molly McGuigan and Joey Molacek were among a select field of 11 student-athletes named to the Patriot League's All-Academic Team in Thursday's announcement from the conference office. The awards were voted on by the league's eight women's soccer sports information directors who could not cast a ballot for their own student-athletes.

Now in its third year, the Academic All-Patriot League Team was added for all sports beginning in the 2010-11 season to honor student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. The Women's Soccer Academic All-Patriot League Team has 11 student-athletes to equal the size of the sport's All-Patriot League first team.

It is the second straight year McGuigan was chosen for this honor as Army placed a league-high three student-athletes on the All-Academic Team followed by Bucknell and American with two. Teams represented with one student-athlete were Colgate, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy with the Midshipman's Elizabeth Hoerner named the Patriot League's Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

McGuigan, who picked up her third Patriot League first-team certificate as a defender earlier today, has started every game (60) since her freshman year. She has played a pivotal role in the Black Knights' 35 shutouts during that span, to include a school-record 16 in 2010. This year she helped backstop Army to four shutouts, including a pair of blankings in the final two games of the season against American (4-0) and Lafayette (2-0) as the Black Knights closed out the year 8-10-0 overall and 3-4-0 in league play.

The Economics major with a 3.694 grade point average from Boulder, Colo., tallied a pair of assists to include setting up Army's third goal in a 4-0 win over league rival American in its home finale. The three-time Dean's List student twice earned Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors as a first-team selection in 2010 and third time in 2011. A two-time Patriot League Defender of the Year, McGuigan has earned numerous academic honors. She is a two-time member of the league academic honor roll and earned Academic All-District honors last year.

Molacek, who earlier today was named to the All-Patriot League second unit as a forward, led the team in scoring with 17 points (seven goals, three assists) this season. The native of Saugus, Calif., tallied a pair of goals twice in a game this season and three times in her career. She had a hand in the scoring in five of the last six games tallying three goals along with an assist for seven points against league opponents. Molacek scored twice against Colgate, tallied the game winner in a 2-1 edging of Lehigh and assisted on the opening goal in the blanking of American.

An Engineering Management major with a 3.377 GPA, Molacek has been named to the Dean's List four times.

Kalik has shined in her three years at Army on the pitch and in the classroom where the Life Science major with a 3.919 GPA was a member of the Dean's List for both terms in 2011 and 2012. The native of Riverview, Fla., received the Superintendent's Award for Excellence (top five percent of class) in 2011 and the Superintendent's Award for Achievement in 2012.

Twice she was selected to the Patriot League's Academic honor roll. The three-year defender has played a key role helping Army compile 19 shutouts the past two years. She was the lone Army player named to the Under Armour All-Tournament Team hosted by Cal State Fullerton the weekend of Sept. 14-16.
