The Army women's soccer team, a 2011 NCAA participant and reigning Patriot League tournament champions, announced a five-game spring exhibition schedule that has the Black Knights playing two of the games on the road and the remaining three at Clinton Field.

Head coach Stefanie Golan, who led Army to its second league title and NCAA berth in four years, returns three all-league players in sophomores Kim An (forward), Molly McGuigan (defense) and Joey Molacek (midfielder). McGuigan repeated as the league's Defensive Player of the Year and Molacek was named the MVP of the league tournament.

Posting a 12-4-5 mark last year, Army returns the top three scorers who accounted for 19 of 28 goals along with 10 game winners. The Black Knights closed out the year at the NCAA Tournament where they held No. 13 Penn State scoreless for over 85 minutes before suffering a 1-0 defeat. The 14-time Big Ten champion Nittany Lions closed out the season ranked No. 8 in the year-end poll.

"We are really looking forward to our spring games," stated Golan, who led Army to the 2010 regular-season league title followed by last fall's tournament title and automatic bid to the NCAA berth en route to posting a 33-18-10 three-year mark.

"Each game will present unique challenges, but the spring season is mostly about learning more about your own team and your group of returning players. We are going to use a few different systems of play and try some of our players in a few different positions to learn about our own flexibility going into the fall.

"This schedule will certainly allow us to learn more about ourselves, and we can't wait to get going after spring break."

Army heads to St. Rose in Albany, N.Y., for its first game on Saturday, March 24. The Black Knights have a busy April with four matches scheduled starting with hosting Kutztown on April 14 and Siena on April 21. The Black Knights head to Colgate on Sunday, April 22, to test themselves against the 2011 Patriot League regular-season champion Raiders, before closing out the schedule with the annual alumni game on Saturday, April 28. 2012
