WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army seniors Dee Clegg and Errin Helbling, sophomores Jaclyn Kalik, Molly McGuigan and Joey Molacek, along with freshmen Emma Dugas and Madison Oliver, were among the 115 women's soccer student-athletes named to this year's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

It is the second straight year that Clegg, Helbling, Kalik, McGuigan and Molacek were honored for their performance in the classroom, while Dugas and Oliver made the league's academic standard in their first semester at West Point.

Kalik of Riverview, Fla., recorded the highest grade point average among Army's contingent for the second straight year with a 3.955 as a Life Science major. The sophomore defender, a starter in 17 of 21 games, helped Army post 15 shutouts this season, which was just one shy of last year's school-record 16.

McGuigan has earned a multitude of honors this season, both on the pitch and in the classroom. The native of Boulder, Colo., repeated as the league's Defensive Player of the Year and as a first-time all-star, along with selection to the Mid-Atlantic all-Region Team (third unit) for the second straight year. Named to the preseason MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, McGuigan was among a select field of student-athletes named to the conference's All-Academic Team in the fall. She also garnered Capital One Academic All-District 1 honors by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) with her selection to the second team.

A starter as a defender in every game (42) since her freshman year, the Economics major with a 3.824 GPA, played a key role in backstopping Army to 15 shutouts in the fall. Instrumental in helping post 31 shutouts over the past two years, McGuigan played a pivotal role in the Black Knights ranking among the national leaders for the second straight year. Army closed out 2011 listed second in shutout percentage (.714), third in save percentage (.915) and seventh in goals-against average (4.52) among 330 schools ranked.

Clegg (Canton Country, Calif.), an Arts, Philosophy & Literature major who played in 21 games as a forward and scored a pair of goals and assists for six points, along with taking 19 of Army's corner kicks, authored a 3.508 GPA.

Helbling, (Wayne, Pa.) a tri-captain, earned second-team league all-star honors as a forward. The Systems Engineering major, with a 3.566 GPA, closed out her final year tied for third on the team in scoring with nine points (three goals, three assists).

Molacek (Saugus, Calif.), a second-team all-conference selection and MVP of the Patriot League Tournament after tallying both goals in Army's 2-0 upset win over top-seeded Colgate in the semis, posted a 3.384 GPA as an Engineering Management major.

Earning academic honors for the first time are freshmen Dugas (Canterbury, Conn.) and Oliver (Flower Mound, Texas). Drawing the most starts among the freshmen with 14 appearances in 19 games, Oliver (defender), who helped backstrop Army to 10 shutouts over a 13-game span, was named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team.

Oliver (3.626) and Dugas (3.332) have not yet declared their academic majors.

Army closed out one of its finest seasons in school history in 2011. The Black Knights captured the Patriot League Tournament title for the second time in four years to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Army drew No. 13 Penn State in its NCAA opening round match, and though outshot 29-3, including 12-1 shots on goal, held the Nittany Lions scoreless for over 85 minutes before bowing 1-0 to close with a 12-4-5 record. Penn State was voted eighth in the year-end NSCAA poll for its highest ranking since 2006.

American claimed a league-best 22 student-athletes on the honor roll with Bucknell second with 20.
