The Black Knights and Bulldogs will square off for the third consecutive season and fourth time overall on Sunday afternoon. Bryant won last season’s showdown, 64-54, on its home court on Jan. 3, while Army was victorious at West Point in the 2010-11 meeting, 66-55. Army returns its two leading scorers from last season’s game in senior Anna Simmers and sophomore Olivia Schretzman. Simmers totaled a team-high 14 points, while Schretzman added 13 points and an Army-leading seven rebounds.

It was a tale of two halves as the Black Knights defeated the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 77-40, on Dec. 13 at Christl Arena. Army scored 27 points in the first half against the Division III foe before matching that total after just nine minutes of play in the second half en route to a 50-point frame, while holding the Mariners to just 17 points in the second. Eleven players cracked the scoring column for Army led by senior Anna Simmers’ 15-point night. Simmers played just 23 minutes as head coach Dave Magarity had 14 Black Knights check into the game. Freshmen Kelsey Minato and Bridget Ryan pitched in 11 points apiece, marking a career best for Ryan, while Army matched the Academy record for three-pointers made in a single game with 12.
