Army will look to improve upon its 2-0 record against USMMA. The Black Knights and Mariners have played both contests at Christl Arena, with Army winning on 11/30/06 by a score of 77-43, followed by a 90-38 thumping on 1/5/08. Army has emptied its bench during both contests as a combined 31 players saw playing time between the two games. The Black Knights eclipsed the 40-rebound mark in both contests, while also shooting north of 45 percent from the floor. Four Army players reached double digits in scoring during the 2008 showdown, while only two USMMA players have ever gone for more than 10 against the Black Knights.
Since Army reclaimed its Division I status for the 1990-91 season, the Black Knights have faced Division III opponents 10 times, winning all 10 games in emphatic fashion. Army will have the opportunity to jump to 11-0 on Thursday when the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy of the Landmark Conference travels to Christl Arena. The Black Knights have beaten the Mariners by an average margin of 43 points in two meetings, while Army has averaged 35.8 points more than its Division III adversaries through 10 games.
Army will enjoy a 17-day break for Term-End Exam (TEE) week and the holidays as the Black Knights next host Bryant on Dec. 30. The Bulldogs host Patriot League foe Holy Cross on Dec. 21 in their lone game before the Army tilt. Bryant enters the showdown with the Crusaders the winners of four straight and 4-4 overall.
