WEST POINT, N.Y. -
Senior Jen Hazlett was honored as the Patriot League Player of the Week on Monday after helping the Army women's basketball team to three wins last week. The award marks her first of the season and second of her career.
Hazlett and the Black Knights played three games in six days last week, making up a contest at Lehigh on Feb. 24 before playing regularly-scheduled games at Boston University (Feb. 26) and Lafayette (March 1).
Hazlett totaled 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while playing 37 minutes in Army's come-from-behind win over Lehigh last Monday. The Black Knights trailed by a season-high 19 points late in the first half, but rallied to collect a 78-69 win, thanks to Hazlett's eight points, six rebounds and 3-of-6 shooting performance in the second frame.
In a 75-48 win over Boston University last Wednesday, Hazlett led all scorers with 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting, while controlling a career-best 16 rebounds to mark her fifth double-double of the season. The Syracuse, Utah, native was successful on three of her seven attempts from three-point range to help Army convert 10-of-17 (58.8 percent) of its chances from deep.
Hazlett nearly reached a double-double in Saturday's regular-season finale at Lafayette, finishing with 13 points and nine boards during the Black Knights' 64-53 victory. The senior hit three three-pointers to mark her fifth-straight game with at least three triples and moved into second place on Army's single-season three-pointers list with 68 threes.
Hazlett finishes the regular season ranked fourth in the Patriot League in rebounds per game (7.5 RPG), fifth in three-pointers per game (2.3) and seventh in scoring (14.0 PPG).
Army (22-7, 14-4 PL) will begin postseason play by hosting a Patriot League Quarterfinal contest on Thursday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. The Black Knights, who will play as the No. 2 seed, will face the winner of Tuesday's first round match-up between No. 7 Boston University and No. 10 Loyola.
