WEST POINT, N.Y. – Hours after earning a comeback win over Lehigh to cap the regular season with an 11-3 record, Army women’s basketball watched first-place Navy fall at Bucknell to put the Black Knights and Midshipmen in a tie for first place at regular-season’s end. By virtue of sweeping Navy in the regular season, Army has earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Patriot League Championship and home-court advantage through the title game.

The Black Knights (22-7, 11-3 PL) will host No. 8 Colgate (9-20, 3-11 PL) on Thursday at 7 p.m., in the Patriot League Tournament Quarterfinal round. For tickets, visit www.goARMYsports.com or call 1-877-TIX-ARMY. Fans can also stop by the ticket office at its new location at Gate 3 of Michie Stadium during its regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.). The Holleder Center ticket office, located just outside Christl Arena, opens for sales 90 minutes prior to home contests.

“I’m so proud of our kids for bouncing back from that tough loss to Colgate and taking care of business,” said Army head coach Dave Magarity. “These last three wins were against very good teams and we’re playing great basketball right now. The Holy Cross game was a big bounce back, and back to back games against the hottest teams in the Patriot League proves how good we are when we set our mind to it.”

“Colgate is one of the three teams that beat us so we knew we’re in for a tough game,” Magarity continued. “We have to really focus and prepare for their pressure and quickness. They had a rough loss today, that game went down to the wire, so I’m sure they’re disappointed. A team like Colgate has nothing to lose so they’re dangerous.”

Army’s regular-season title is its second in Patriot League history and first since the 2005-06 season. The 2005-06 squad also went 11-3 and won three games in the conference tournament to capture the Black Knights’ lone Patriot League Tournament title and accompanying NCAA Championship bid in program history.
