Army Closes First Half of League Play With Win at Lehigh
Army women's basketball finished the first seven-game cycle of Patriot League games with a 61-56 win at Lehigh, its first win at Stabler Arena since 2007. The Black Knights halted their two-game losing streak thanks to a resurgence by senior guard Anna Simmers who tallied a game-high 21 points despite getting into early foul trouble.

The Black Knights (21-7, 10-3 Patriot League) have already locked up a finish in the top two of the Patriot League standings and home court advantage through the conference semifinals following Wednesday night’s convincing win at Holy Cross. In the first meeting of the season against Lehigh (14-14, 6-7 PL), Army earned its first win in Bethlehem, Pa., since 2007, besting the Mountain Hawks 61-56 to wrap up the first half of conference play.

Prior to tipoff against Lehigh, Army will recognize five seniors who have made incredible contributions to the program over the past four seasons, including manager Colleen McCaffrey, student assistant coach Karleen Paulin and players Kimberlyn Martin, Liz Benedict and Anna Simmers.

Last Time Out
Army is guaranteed to finish in the top two of the Patriot League standings following a 62-35 win at Holy Cross on Wednesday night. The second-place Black Knights (21-7, 10-3 Patriot League) caused 31 turnovers, resulting in 26 points to edge the third-place Crusaders (15-13, 7-6 PL) in Army’s final road game of the regular season. Senior Anna Simmers totaled a game-high 21 points while holding Holy Cross’ leading scorer Alex Smith without a point in the second half en route to the Crusaders’ lowest scoring game in series history. An Army opponent coughed up the ball more than 30 times for the first time since Feb. 13, 2005, and the 31 miscues are the most by a Black Knight foe since Coast Guard was credited with 34 on Nov. 22, 2002. Army’s 27-point win over the Crusaders is the Black Knights’ largest margin of victory in the series since scoring a 34-point win Feb. 6, 2007. For the full box score and recap, click HERE.
