WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army women's basketball sophomore Jean Parkerwas voted Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week on Monday after her efforts in the Black Knights' 54-48 win over Navy on Saturday, Feb. 8. The Athlete of the Week selection is the first of Parker's career.
Parker scored 12 points off the bench while knocking down a career-best four three-pointers as part of a 4-of-5 showing from long range against the Midshipmen. In the first half alone, the sophomore went 3-for-3 from beyond the arc to enter the break as the game's leading scorer with nine points. The Portland, Ore., native also controlled a pair of rebounds in the win.
Parker's 77 points rank second among bench scorers for the Black Knights, as she averages 3.9 points per game. Saturday marked her third-career double-digit scoring game, and was the second in a row after netting 10 against Loyola on Feb. 1.
Army (17-5, 9-2 PL) wraps up its five-game homestand with a pair of contests at Christl Arena this week. The Black Knights will host Holy Cross on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. before facing Bucknell on Saturday, Feb. 15 for a 1 p.m. match-up.
