WEST POINT, N.Y.  - Freshman Kelsey Minato's dominance of the Patriot League Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week citation continued on Monday as the Army point guard was named the conference's top newcomer for the sixth time this season and third consecutive week. Minato recorded game-high point totals for the third and fourth consecutive contests against Colgate and American, respectively, last week to warrant the accolade.

Minato posted up 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting and six rebounds against the Raiders on Wednesday to lead the Black Knights to their 15th victory of the season (15-5, 4-1 Patriot League) and second 4-0 start to conference play since joining the Patriot League in 1990-91. Despite being held scoreless in the first half against the Eagles, the freshman play-caller exploded in the second stanza to finish with 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

For the week, the Huntington Beach, Calif., native averaged 17 points, 6.5 rebounds, two assists, 1.5 steals and 39.5 minutes per game. Minato shot 48.1 percent from the field, including 54.5 percent from three.

Minato has led Army in scoring in four consecutive games and enters this week's contests against Holy Cross and Lehigh as the top scorer in Patriot League games at an 18-points-per-game clip. She is the first newcomer to win back-to-back-to-back Rookie of the Week honors since the Crusaders' Alex Smith in 2010-11, and first six-time honoree since Colgate's Patricia Oakes in 2008-09. The most rookie honors by an Army player is seven, a mark achieved by Cara Enright in 2004-05 and Lisa Russell in 1991-92, while the conference record for most newcomer certificates in one season is eight held by Bucknell's Lindsey Hollobaugh (2003-04).
