Comeback Bid Comes Up Short As Colgate Upsets Army in Quarterfinals
Army's Patriot League Tournament title hopes came to an abrupt end on Thursday evening as the top-seeded Black Knights were upset at Christl Arena by No. 8 Colgate, 48-40. Army's offense failed to find a rhythm in a 17-point second half as the Black Knights made just five field goals in the decisive final stanza.

Army is 33-21 in its all-time series against Colgate, but the Raiders have picked up wins in each of the last two meetings, including a 48-40 decision in last year's Patriot League Tournament. In the regular season, the Black Knights collected a 51-48 win at West Point, while Colgate won, 60-56, in Hamilton, N.Y.

Army lost on a game-winning buzzer beater in a 56-55 loss at Bucknell on Saturday evening. Sophomore Aimee Oertner knocked in a lay-up with four seconds remaining to give the Black Knights a 55-54 advantage before Bucknell senior Shelby Romine sank the game-deciding jumper as time expired. The Bison came back from a 14-point deficit, as the Black Knights held a 39-25 lead with 13:49 left in the second half. Fourteen points marks Army's largest blown lead in a loss this year. In the game, Army sophomores, who account for over 53 percent of the team's scoring, totaled their lowest scoring output of the season with 40 points as a group. Minato scored 13 points to extend her Patriot League-best double-digit scoring streak to 33 games, while also adding five rebounds and five assists. Schretzman notched 10 points, while Johnson totaled eight. In just her third career start, freshman Danielle Failor posted four points and six boards, and sophomore Jean Parker added six points off the bench for the second game in a row.

Following its match-up with Colgate, Army is back on the road where it will face American on Saturday, Jan. 25.
