Last Time Out
A 14-point second half ruined Army’s chances of escaping Providence, R.I., with a win as the Black Knights fell at Brown, 48-45, on Wednesday evening at Pizzitola Sports Center. The Black Knights led the entire game until just over four minutes remaining when the Bears used a 10-4 run to seal the game, taking advantage of Army’s lowly shooting night. The Black Knights shot a season-low 22.6 percent (14-62) on the night, including a crippling 5-for-32 clip in the second half en route to their lowest scoring output since totaling 39 against American on Jan. 21, 2012. Junior Jen Hazlett was the lone Black Knight in double figures, scoring 10 points, including a pair of threes. For the full box score and recap, click HERE.

Army Against First-Time Opponents
Army’s 2012-13 schedule features two teams the Black Knights have never faced before, including Morgan State. Army’s other unfamiliar foe was Weber State - which the Black Knights defeated 77-58 on 11/21 in Ogden, Utah. Since 1977-78, Army has gone 111-91 (.550) in games against opponents it had previously never faced. In 2011-12, head coach Dave Magarity and the Black Knights had two newcomers on their slate - Hawaii and Arizona State. Army defeated the Rainbow Wahine, 55-51, at Christl Arena, but lost in Tempe, Ariz., 83-46. Since Magarity took over prior to the 2006-07 season, Army has faced 13 new opponents, going 8-5 in those first-time matchups.

Up Next
Army will lift the lid on Patriot League play at home against Bucknell on Jan. 12. The Bison, who enter the weekend 8-5, will play two more games before facing the Black Knights – Saturday at Yale and Tuesday at home against NJIT. Army swept Bucknell in both meetings last year in games decided by a combined seven points.
