WEST POINT, N.Y. -
Army head wrestling coach Joe Heskett released the program’s 2013-14 schedule this week. The slate features a pair of home matches and is highlighted by the season finale against Navy in Annapolis, Md., on Feb. 21.
“We’re hitting the best tournaments in the country and we’re going to have a great chance to win some big-time matches, which is going to help us at the NCAA Tournament,” said Heskett. “We have the Cliff Keen Invitational and the Southern Scuffle, which are the two premier tournaments in the country, and we also have some solid dual meets along the way.”
Army begins its 2013-14 campaign on Nov. 6, when it hosts the Stevens Institute of Technology. The Black Knights are on the road for their first tournament of the year just four days later as they compete in the Oklahoma-Gold Classic (Nov. 10) in Brockport, N.Y. Army remains on the road for the rest of the November, facing Franklin & Marshall (Nov. 16) in Harrisburg, Pa., before taking part in the New York State Championships (Nov. 23) in Ithaca, N.Y.
The Black Knights are in action twice in December, as they compete in the Grapple at the Garden (Dec. 1) at the Madison Square Garden in New York City before travelling to Las Vegas, Nev., for the Cliff Keen Invitational on Dec. 6.
After breaking for term-end exams and the holidays, Army returns to action with the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tenn. before travelling to Boston, Mass., for the Boston Duals on Jan. 12. The remainder of the Black Knights’ schedule includes dual matches at American (Jan. 18) and Drexel and Penn (Jan. 26), the All-Academy Championships in New London, Conn., and duals versus Bucknell (Feb. 9) and at Navy (Feb. 21).
Just over two weeks later, Army will take part in the 110th annual EIWA Championships, March 7-8, in Philadelphia. The NCAA Championships are slated for March 20-22 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
