WEST POINT, N.Y. -
The Army wrestling team will wrap up its regular season at Navy, where the Black Knights will battle their service academy rivals in the annual "Star" Match. The Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Navy's Alumni Hall.
The Patriot League Network will offer a free live video stream of the match, with a link available on Army's website (www.goARMYsports.com).
Army (8-3, 7-3 EIWA) extended its winning streak to five matches after besting conference foe Bucknell, 24-11, on Feb. 9. Seniors Tyler Rauenzahn (141 pounds) and Ryan Tompkins (184) and sophomore Brian Harvey (174) all record major decisions versus the Bison, while senior Paul Hancock (157), junior Chandler Smith (165), sophomore Bryce Barnes (197) and freshman Logan Everett (133) also came away with wins.
The Black Knights have received at least 20 victories from five different wrestlers this year, including Smith (30-10), Harvey (25-8), Hancock (23-10), junior 165 pounder Cole Gracey (21-12) and Tompkins (20-8). Harvey enters the week with a perfect 7-0 record in dual matches, while Hancock leads Army with nine dual-match victories (9-2).
Navy (4-1, 1-1) is led by Peyton Walsh (165) and Colton Rasche (133), who come in with records of 24-10 and 21-9, respectively. At 174 pounds, the Midshipmen boast the nation's 11th ranked wrestler in Matthew Miller, who stands 16-12 on the season. Navy is coming off a 34-8 win at American on Feb. 8, during which it was victorious in eight of the 10 bouts, including five bonus-point wins.
Navy holds a 47-5-5 all-time advantage against Army, and have won each of the last 13 meetings. Navy has gone 15-0-1 since Army's last series win in 1997.
After Friday's dual match, the Black Knights will take a week off before making the trip to Philadelphia, Pa., to compete at the 110th EIWA Championships on March 8-9.
