BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore Brian Harvey (174 pounds) collected three wins to help the Army wrestling team finish 2-1 during a three-dual-match day at the Boston Duals on Sunday at Boston University's Case Gym.

The Black Knights competed in matches against Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) rivals Brown, Boston University and Harvard. Army (4-3, 3-3 EIWA) used a pair of bonus-point wins to take a 28-12 decision over Brown (0-1, 0-1) in its opening match, but slipped to Boston University (2-6, 1-5), 18-16, after nearly coming back from a 15-3 deficit. Army finished the day by taking six of 10 matches against Harvard (2-3, 1-3) to earn a 25-13 victory over the Crimson.

Along with Harvey's three victories, six other Black Knights posted multiple wins during Sunday's action. Junior Chandler Smith (165) went 2-0, while seniors Paul Hancock (157), Tyler Rauenzahn (141), Ryan Tompkins (184), junior Hunter Wood (125) and sophomore Bryce Barnes (197) all were 2-1.

Army and Brown traded the first four matches, with the Black Knights leading 9-8 before Hancock, Smith and Harvey won decisions in each of the next three bouts. Hancock secured a 7-2 win over Justin Staudenmayer at 157 pounds, and Smith won, 8-4, over Philip Marano in the 165-pound match. At 174, Harvey slipped past Ricky McDonald, 4-3, to extend the Army advantage to 18-8. Tompkins lost in a major decision to Ophir Bernstein, the No. 13 wrestler at 184 pounds according to Intermat's national poll, as the Bears crept back to an 18-12 deficit with two bouts remaining. Barnes used a 9-1 major decision over the Bears' Sebastien Levin in the 197-pound match to clinch the win for Army, giving the Black Knights a 22-12 lead before junior Stephen Snyder (285) won by forfeit in the final bout.

Boston University won five of its first six matches against Army, with the only Black Knight win coming in the 141-pound match, where Rauenzahn earned a 2-1 decision over Tyler Scotton. The Terriers held a 15-3 lead with four matches remaining, but Army climbed back into contention, winning each of the next three bouts. At 174, Harvey earned a 5-1 decision over Boston University's Colin Saunders before Tompkins took a 13-1 major decision against Andrew Maksimovic at 184 pounds. Barnes made in three-in-a-row for the Black Knights, as he pinned Kristian Meyer in 1:22 to give Army a 16-15 lead with only the heavyweight bout remaining. After coming back to take a one-point lead, the Black Knights were unable to complete the come-from-behind victory, as Boston University's Kevin Innis grabbed a 3-1 decision over Snyder at 285 pounds.

Wood won by forfeit at 125 pounds to give Army an early 6-0 advantage against Harvard, but the Crimson won the 133 and 141 matches, by major decision and decision, respectively, to take a 7-6 lead. Freshman Mark Marchetti pinned Harvard's Nicholas Stager in 6:12 at 149 pounds to spark five straight Black Knight wins, including a major decision by Smith in the 165-pound bout. Tompkins picked up a 6-4 win in overtime at 184 pounds to clinch the match by giving Army a 25-7 lead after eight bouts. The Crimson picked up decisions in the final two matches to bring the final margin to 12 points.

Army returns to the mat on Saturday, Jan. 18, when it faces American in dual match at 7 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
