WEST POINT, N.Y. - After earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament last season, the Army men's tennis team released its 2014-15 schedule on Wednesday. The defending Patriot League champions will partake in seven tournaments during the fall and 22 matches in the spring.
The fall season will begin with three tournaments starting on Sept. 19-21, including the Ivy Plus Invitational in Princeton, N.J., as well as the Saint Joseph's Invitational in Philadelphia, Pa. In addition, the Black Knights will host Niagara, Marist and Fairleigh Dickinson in the Army Shootout at West Point.
On Oct. 3-5, Army will play in both the Stony Brook Invitational in Stony Brook, N.Y., and the Yale Invitational in New Haven, Conn. The Black Knights will spend Oct. 16-21 at the ITA Regional Championships in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., before wrapping up the fall season at the Lehigh Invitational on Oct. 25-26 in Bethlehem, Pa.
Army will open the spring season with three home matches in three days starting with Central Florida on Jan. 30, Buffalo the following day and Boston College on Feb. 1. Army will welcome Stony Brook and Connecticut to the Lichtenberg Tennis Center on Feb. 7 before hosting Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 13 and Quinnipiac on Feb. 14.
Capping off the month of February will be home matches against Sacred Heart (Feb. 16), Binghamton (Feb. 21) and St. Bonaventure (Feb. 22). Army will host Drexel on March 6 before finally hitting the road for a March 8 match at Princeton.
The Black Knights will take a trip to California to square off against UC Irvine and Air Force on March 14-15 in Newport Beach, Calif., and will then visit Loyola Marymount on March 17.
Patriot League play will commence for Army with home matches against Lafayette and Holy Cross on March 21, as well as a battle with Loyola the next day. The Black Knights will then host Boston University (March 28), Lehigh (April 4) and Bucknell (April 5).
In its regular season finale, Army will play Navy on April 11 at West Point. The Black Knights defeated the Midshipmen in both the "Star" Match and Patriot League Tournament Championship match a season ago.
The Patriot League Tournament will take place on April 16-19 in Lewisburg, Pa.
