The Army men's tennis team will continue its dual match schedule with a pair of home contests this weekend. The Black Knights will host Stony Brook on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 9 a.m. before playing Connecticut at 4 p.m. Both matches will be contested at Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
The Black Knights collected a 4-3 victory over Monmouth on Feb. 1 before sweeping Niagara for a 7-0 win on Feb. 2. Junior Alex Van Velzer, sophomore Austin McCasin and freshman Grant Riechmann all went 2-0 in singles action last weekend, while sophomore Ben Davies and freshmen Kyle Barnes and Sam Lampman each picked up a singles win.
Stony Brook has yet to compete in a dual match this season and brings in five newcomers to its 10-player squad.
Connecticut enters the weekend with a 3-2 record, but will compete in its first dual match since Oct. 15. Top singles players for the Huskies include junior Wayne Harrell (3-1), sophomore Andrew Ginzberg (2-1) and freshman Christopher Toner (2-1).
Army is 20-4 in its all-time series against Stony Brook, and is 10-2 all-time versus Connecticut.
The Black Knights are back on the court to host the Army Shootout on Feb. 22-23, when it will compete in dual matches against Binghamton, Drexel and St. Bonaventure.
