WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army men’s tennis maintained its flawless Patriot League record on Saturday with a 6-1 defeat of Colgate at Lichtenberg Tennis Center. The Black Knights improved to 3-0 this season in conference matches and are 11-9 overall.
Army opened the match by sweeping the doubles point from the Raiders (7-8, 0-2 PL). Sophomores Asika Isoh and Henry Jang-Milsten collected their seventh win in their last eight tries with an 8-6 defeat of Alec Goldstein and Parker Lewis at No. 1. Isoh and Jang-Milsten lead Army in doubles wins this season with 16, including 11 in dual-match play.
Isoh then stretched his team-best singles win total to 17 with a 2-6, 7-5, 10-3 victory at No. 1 over Luke Gensburg. Playing at No. 2, freshman Alex Van Velzer hit the double-digit win total in dual matches with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Bobby Berkowitz. Van Velzer bumped his season record to 14-15 with the win.
Jang-Milsten squashed his five-match losing streak with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Sean Spellberg at No. 4, marking his fifth victory of the spring.
Army improved to 47-15-2 all-time against its conference foe, including 11-2 under the direction of head coach Jim Poling.
The Black Knights will remain at home for their next match when they host NJIT on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
