WEST POINT, N.Y. - After falling to Navy 14-0 in the Pride Bowl earlier in the season, Army has remained focused on the goal at hand, winning the Collegiate Sprint Football League title. Since the Pride Bowl loss the Black Knights have reeled off three consecutive victories and stand 3-0 in the conference, tied with the Midshipmen for first place.
The service academy rivals will meet at Michie Stadium for the CSFL championship on Friday, Nov. 7, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Army enters the contest with a 4-1 record, while Navy sports an unblemished 6-0 mark. The Mids have won 17 straight contests with their last defeat coming at the hands of Army in the Anthracite Bowl in 2001. The Black Knights won that game by a 24-7 tally, but have lost the last four meetings to Navy.
The Black Knights are primed to end that losing streak, which includes a 35-10 loss at Navy in last year's championship game. In its four victories this season, Army has won by an average score of 36-14 and outgained its opponents by a whopping 576 yards, 1,444-868. The Black Knights have dominated the rushing yardage category in their four victories, totaling 1,206 yards on the ground, compared to just 100 for their opponents.
