WEST POINT, N.Y. - The prestigious post-season honors continue to roll in for Army senior defender Jeff Pickett, who was recently named an NSCAA Scholar All-American. Pickett will be formally recognized for the achievement during a special luncheon at the 65th annual NSCAA Convention on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Pickett, who was named to the third team, becomes just the second Army player to earn NSCAA Scholar All-America accolades. He joins Daniel Newell, who was selected to the second team following the 2007 campaign.

A native of Temple, Texas, Pickett was a steady influence along the Black Knights' freshman-laden defense this fall. The talented center back led an Army unit that limited the opposition to 1.61 goals per game and recorded three shutouts in 2011. A constant contributor on the Black Knights' set pieces, Pickett scored his lone goal on a header off a corner kick in Army's season opener versus Marist.

The Economics major also excelled in the classroom, compiling a 3.42 grade point average.

Pickett, who also earned All-Patriot League honors following his junior and senior seasons, finished his decorated West Point career with four goals and one assist for nine points.

Army closed out the 2011 campaign with a 7-10-1 overall record (2-4-1 PL). The Black Knights' seven victories are the most since the 2007 team won nine games. Army's two Patriot League wins are the most since the 2006 Black Knights won three conference contests. Army's sixth-place finish in the Patriot League standings is its highest since placing fifth in 2006. Army accumulated seven points in conference games, the highest total for the Black Knights since the Patriot League adopted the points system beginning in 2007.
