WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army junior goalkeeper Winston Boldt was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's National Team of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Oct. 13. This week marks the second time Boldt has earned the accolade this season, and is the third time in his career.
Boldt made five saves in Army's 1-0 win over Colgate on Wednesday, Oct. 9, before stopping five more shots in Saturday's 1-0 triumph over a Loyola team receiving votes toward this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) North Atlantic Region poll.
Boldt currently leads the nation with nine shutouts, and stands second nationally in both goals against average (.430) and save percentage (.911). His nine clean sheets are tied for the most in Black Knight history with Frank Oprandy '89 and Lucas Rice '93.
Earlier this week, Boldt was named honorable mention by the Patriot League for his performances against Colgate and Loyola.
Army (9-1-1, 4-0-0 PL), which stands seventh in this week's NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region poll, is off to its best start since 1975, when it started 10-1-1, and its best Patriot League start since 1996, when it began 4-0-0.
The Black Knights return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19, when they host American in a Patriot League contest at 7 p.m.
