Men's Soccer Set To Host LIU Brooklyn On Tuesday

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Coming off a 2-0 Patriot League win over Bucknell on Saturday, Sept. 28, the Army men’s soccer team briefly returns to non-conference action when it hosts LIU Brooklyn on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m.

The Black Knights enter the match ranked eighth in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Region poll.

The match will be video streamed live on Knight Vision, the Black Knights’ subscription-based multimedia platform available through Army’s official website ( Live stats will also be available through GameTracker and in-game Twitter updates will be offered via the men’s soccer team’s official handle (@Army_MSoccer).

Army (6-1-1) is paced offensively by freshmen forwards Ethan Spivack (three goals) and Nick Williams (two goals). Eight other players have scored once for the Black Knights, including junior back Sean Mogan (one goal, two assists). Junior goalkeeper Winston Boldt ranks in the top 10 nationally in goals against average (.360) and save percentage (.919). Boldt’s seven shutouts on the year are the most by a Black Knight keeper since Jeremy Pamplin had seven clean sheets in 1996.

LIU Brooklyn (2-6-1) has received goals from four players this season, including sophomore midfielder Tanner Sica, who leads the Blackbirds with three points (one goal, one assist). Graduate student goalie John Connolly has a 1.08 goals against average and two shutouts in eight matches. The Blackbirds are coming off a 2-1 victory over Fairfield on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Army is 2-0-0 in its all-time series against LIU Brooklyn. The Black Knights and the Blackbirds last met in 1993, when Army won a 6-0 decision at West Point.

Following Tuesday’s match, Army will host Boston University for the first time in the Patriot League. The Terriers blanked the Black Knights, 1-0, when the schools last met in 2001.
