Army Opens Patriot League Slate Saturday At Bucknell

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army men's soccer team travels to Lewisburg, Pa. to face Bucknell on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 3:30 p.m., as both schools begin Patriot League play. Saturday's schedule will feature all 10 Patriot League squads in action as this season's conference schedule gets underway. Army is ranked eighth in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Region poll, while Bucknell stands seventh.

Army Scores Huge 2-1 Win At Bucknell
Junior midfielder Jason Lewis scored his first career goal with 13 seconds to play in regulation to lift Army past Bucknell, 2-1, in a Patriot League men's soccer match Saturday evening at Emmitt Field.

Army (5-1-1), which is coming off three straight overtime games, is led up front by freshmen forwards Ethan Spivack (three goals) and Nick Williams (two goals). Junior back Sean Mogan has one goal and two assists, while sophomore midfielder Nick Baietti and freshman back Trase Stapley each enter with a goal and an assist. Junior goalkeeper Winston Boldt ranks third in the nation in save percentage (.906) and stands seventh in goals against average (.406). He has an NCAA-best six shutouts through seven starts, the most by an Army goalie since A.J. Glubzinski recorded six in 2007.

Winners of five straight entering Saturday's match, Bucknell (5-2-0) is paced by sophomore forward Jesse Klug (five goals) and sophomore midfielder Chris Thorsheim (four goals, one assist). Sophomore goalie Mike Lansing brings a .660 goals against average into Saturday's contest, along with four shutouts in six starts.

Army is 19-13-0 in its all-time series against Bucknell. The sides last met on Oct. 20, 2012, with the Black Knights taking a 2-1 decision at Bucknell, after senior midfielder Jason Lewis netted the game-winning goal with just 13 seconds remaining in regulation.

After Saturday's contest, the Black Knights return home for a season-long three-game homestand that includes tilts against LIU Brooklyn (Oct. 1), Boston University (Oct. 5) and Colgate (Oct. 9).
