Senior CLASS Award Voting!
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - For the second time this month, senior close defenseman Brendan Buckleypicked up Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday afternoon. The tri-captain out of Massapequa, N.Y., turned in one of his most balanced efforts of the season in helping Army clinch a 2013 Patriot League Tournament berth over the weekend.
Buckley scored a career-high two goals in a 14-5 win at Holy Cross on Saturday night. Both goals came in transition, as he sprinted coast-to-coast on the clear and beat Holy Cross goalkeeper Michael Ortlieb.
In addition to his offensive exploits, Buckley totaled two ground balls and shut down the Crusaders' top point-producer James Kennedy. A Tewaaraton Award Watch List member, Kennedy averaged 2.76 points per game heading into Saturday's contest.
Buckley also picked up Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors following a win over Colgate to open the month. He is a first team All-Patriot League performer and the reigning Patriot League Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Coming off Saturday's win, Army earned its first national ranking of the season, falling in at No. 19 in this week's USILA Coaches Poll. The third-seeded Black Knights face No. 2 Bucknell in Friday's first semifinal game of the Patriot League Tournament. Face-off is set for 4:30 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pa. The game can be seen live on CBS Sports Network.
