Lacrosse Continues To Climb Both National Polls

WEST POINT, N.Y. - With the 2014 Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Championships looming this weekend, second-seeded Army moved up in both national polls on Monday. The Black Knights come in at No. 14 in the Warrior Media Poll and fall in at No. 15 in this week's United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches Poll. It is the fifth-straight week the Black Knights have been ranked and the highest national standing they have enjoyed this season.

Loyola, which continued to hold down the nation's No. 1 ranking in both polls Monday, will host the semifinal and championship games at Ridley Athletic Complex, Friday and Sunday, April 25 and 27 respectively. The Greyhounds will play in Friday's first semifinal at 4:30 p.m. against Bucknell, Colgate or Navy. Army will be the higher seeded team in the second semifinal, starting at 7:30 p.m., and play Bucknell, Colgate or Lehigh. Winners of the two semifinals will meet on Sunday in the title game at 1 p.m.

In addition to its national rankings, Army continues to lead the NCAA in scoring defense, yielding 5.92 goals per game. The defense has held all 12 of its opponents to single-digit goals this season and is the only team in the NCAA to do so.

Tickets are on sale now for this weekend's tournament games and can be purchased at CBS Sports Network will air all three semifinal and championship games live, while the Army Sports Network will air the Black Knights' call on and on the radio at 1390 WEOK-AM, 1340 WALL-AM throughout the Hudson Valley and 92.5 WBLR-FM in Watertown, N.Y.
