WEST POINT, N.Y. -
Not only will fans attending this Saturday's Army-Bucknell lacrosse game be treated to a prime Patriot League match-up, there will also be a bevy of pregame fun to be had at Michie Stadium prior to the noon face-off. Along with celebrating Scout Day and Military Appreciation Day, Black Knights Alley and a Kids Boot Camp are on tap.
Similar to that put on prior to all home football games, Black Knights Alley will take place from 10 a.m. until noon and be located on Mills Road between the east stands and Lusk Reservoir. The popular fan fest area will feature inflatables, food, beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), face paint, interactive games, the Cadet Spirit Band and Army mascots.
Also beginning at 10 a.m. and running for one hour will be a Kids Boot Camp. Back by popular demand, this military-style boot camp will be put on by the West Point Maneuver, Drill, Parachute, Sprint Football and Lacrosse teams. In addition to other exciting aspects of the event, a leadership talk from Col. Jeffrey Lieb is scheduled. The boot camp is for kids kindergarten through eighth grade only. A $10 ticket includes admission to the boot camp and the lacrosse game at noon. Young fans interested in registering for the Kids Boot Camp should call 1-877-TIX-ARMY.
In celebration of Military Appreciation Day, the Army lacrosse family will honor two of its own prior service members before face-off. Saturday will also be the annual lacrosse Scout Day at Michie Stadium. Area scouts will receive a commemorative patch for attending the game.
Army (6-3, 2-1 Patriot League) is coming off a 10-4 league win at Colgate on Easter Sunday and looking to capitalize on that momentum heading into the weekend. The Black Knights received votes in both national polls on Monday and collected three of four Patriot League Weekly Awards - Offensive Player of the Week John Glesener, Defensive Player of the Week Brendan Buckley and Goalkeeper of the Week Sam Somers.
One of the hottest teams in the conference, Bucknell (9-2, 3-0) enters the weekend ranked 11th in the USILA Coaches Poll.
Tickets for Saturday's game are available by visiting www.goARMYsports.com, by calling 1-877-TIX-ARMY or by visiting the Army Ticket Office at Gate 3 of Michie Stadium.
