Watch Interview With Glesener Here
WEST POINT, N.Y. -
Two days removed from scoring a career high eight points (4G, 4A) in a 15-6 win over Lafayette, sophomore attackman John Glesener picked up his first career Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week citation on Monday.
A native of Camillus, N.Y., Glesener continued to put up impressive numbers as he recorded his third-straight hat trick. He now has four on the season and five in his career. Glesener's man-up goal with 11 seconds left in the first half proved to be the eventual game-winner as the Black Knights collected their first Patriot League win of the season. Glesener has now scored at least one goal in each of the last five games and totaled 11 goals in his last three outings.
Tying a career-high four assists for the second time this spring on Saturday, Glesener increased his team-best number to 18 on the year. He ranks second in the Patriot League averaging 2.25 assists per game.
In his second season starting on Army's attack, Glesener currently leads the team in points with 36 (18G, 18A). He has also picked up 19 ground balls and scored four man-up goals.
Glesener garnered Patriot League honorable mention laurels for the fourth time this season on Monday as well. He is the second lacrosse player to be named AAA Athlete of the Week, joining senior attackman Garrett Thul (March 4).
Army (5-3, 1-1 Patriot League) looks to carry momentum into an Easter Sunday meeting with Colgate on March 31 in Hamilton, N.Y. A noon face-off at Andy Kerr Stadium is scheduled for a game that can be seen live on CBS Sports Network.
