CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Two days after breaking Army's all-time goals record, senior attackman Garrett Thul nabbed his second Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season. Thul exploded for seven goals in a 12-1 win over Michigan on Saturday, breaking the program's 35-year-old career goal-scoring record with 141.

While tying a career-best seven goals in the victory over Michigan at Sun Life Stadium, he passed Scott Finlay's 140 goals tallied from 1975-78. Thul totaled eight points (7G, 1A) to lead all players and garnered Orange Bowl Lacrosse Classic Most Valuable Player honors.

He recorded a natural hat trick in the second quarter to help push the Black Knights' lead from 3-1 to 6-1 and notched his 26th career hat trick, which ranks second among active Division I players. Coming off the stellar performance, the Flemington, N.J., native now stands as the current career goals leader on the Patriot League books and also the nation's active goal scorers list. He passed reigning Tewaaraton Award winner Peter Baum of Colgate on both ledgers.

Thul's 19 goals (3.80 per game) on the season lead the Patriot League and rank second in NCAA Division I. A starter every game of his West Point career, he also leads the Black Knights with 18 ground balls this season.

Monday's honor is Thul's third career Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week nod. He was named Rookie of the Week four times on his way to 2010 Patriot League Rookie of the Year honors.

Thul and the Black Knights conclude a three-game road swing on Saturday, March 9, at Rutgers. Face-off is set for 1 p.m. in Piscataway, N.J. Fans are encouraged to follow the action via GameTracker (live statistics) or the @Army_Lacrosse Twitter feed.
