HAVERHILL, Mass. – Coming off his first career two-goal game, Army sophomore Mac Lalor was named the Atlantic Hockey Association Travel Team USA Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Lalor was moved to forward for the first time in his Army career for the non-conference matchup at Merrimack. Instead of his usual right defenseman spot, he played right wing.
Lalor was at his normal spot at the point on the power play where he scored two goals less than a minute apart to help Army rebound from a 2-0 deficit.
It is the first Player of the Week honor for Lalor and the fifth time this season an Army player was honored by the league. Andy Starczewski was named Player of the Week and Month while Joe Kozlak earned month honors and Willie Faust Rookie of the Week.
Lalor and Ben Lynch of RIT shared Player of the Week honors. Mercyhurst collected the other awards when Jordan Tibbett was named Goalie of the Week and Kyle Cook the Rookie of the Week.
Army will return to action Dec. 27 at Tate Rink against the Russian Junior All-Stars. Face-off is set for 7:05 p.m. For tickets, please visit www.goARMYsports.com, call 1-877-TIX-ARMY or stop by the Army ticket office inside Michie Stadium.
