WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army senior Andy Starczewski and freshman Joe Kozlak picked up a pair of awards as the Atlantic Hockey Association announced its monthly award winners on Thursday.
Starczewski was named the Player of the Month and Kozlak the Rookie of the Month as October competitions concluded. Carsen Chubak of Niagara was the Goaltender of the Month.
Starczewski totaled four goals and six assists in his first six games of the season. He scored a hat trick against Sacred Heart and handed out three assists at Holy Cross to help Army to a 2-3-1 overall record and 2-0-1 conference mark.
Kozlak collected six points in the first six games of the season and earned his first league citation as the Rookie of the Month. He has two goals and four assists on the year, including the game-winning goal in the road victory at Holy Cross.
All three Atlantic Hockey Association monthly winners will go on a national ballot with the winners from each conference. The national players of the month will be announced later this week.
Army is atop the league standings and will return to action Nov. 9 and 10 against Niagara. Both games are set for 7:05 p.m. at Tate Rink. Tickets are available at www.goARMYsports.com or by calling 1-877-TIX-ARMY.
