WEST POINT, N.Y. -
WEST POINT, N.Y. - An addition is being made to Tate Rink. A nearly 13-feet by 23-feet addition and will be installed before the 2012-13 hockey season is complete.
Daktronics has been chosen to add a new LED video display system to Tate Rink and fans will get a chance to benefit from the board before the season is over.
Thanks to the generosity of U.S. Military Academy graduates and Army Hockey letterwinners David & Sheryll Harkins (Class of 1962) and Brian & Grace Concannon (Class of 1979), fans will have an unrivaled experience in college hockey.
"First off we need to thank Mr. & Mrs. Harkins and Mr. & Mrs. Concannon for their support of Army Athletics," said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Boo Corrigan. "We have some of the best fans in college hockey and this will certainly enhance their experience at Tate Rink. From replays to video features, this will change the way fans experience Army Hockey and we are excited to showcase this great addition."
Measuring 12-feet, 5-inches high by 23 feet wide, the board will be hung in the South end of Tate Rink near the Zamboni entrance. The display will have 384 lines and 704 columns of resolution.
Starting lineups, ceremonial face-offs, in-game action, replays, end of period highlights, stats, player interviews, postgame reaction, features, out-of-town scores, postgame highlights, game previews and much more will be shown on the video board.
Daktronics designed, manufactured and installed the system which is capable of showing one large image or an image divided into separate windows for high-clarity video and graphics. The wide-angle viewing capabilities ensure great views from your seat.
The installation also includes an update to the existing center-ice hung structure with two new indoor color LED message center displays.
