WEST POINT, N.Y.  – American International continued to play well and scored a goal in each period to beat Army, 3-0, Sunday in an Atlantic Hockey Association game at Tate Rink.

The two-day delay for weather didn’t damper the hot play of the Yellow Jackets who earned three points at Air Force last weekend. AIC is now 7-14-5 overall and 4-11-5 in league games.

Army out-shot AIC 36-34 but fell to 7-14-4 overall and 7-9-4 in league contests.

Ben Meisner made 36 saves to post the shutout. Army’s Rob Tadazak made 31 saves including 17 in the final period.

Army had double-digit shots in each period but could not solve Meisner.

AIC jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a first-period tally from Adam Pleskach, his ninth of the season.

Army held a 13-9 advantage in shots on goal during the first 20 minutes but trailed 1-0.

The Yellow Jackets added to their lead in the second period with a power play score. With an Army player off for holding, Richard Leitner netted the score seven minutes into the second period.

Army continued to have chances and racked up 11 shots on goal but could not beat Meisner and trailed 2-0 after two periods.

AIC concluded the scoring in the final period with Jon Puskar’s seventh goal of the season.

Army will return to action Friday in Waltham, Mass., against Bentley. Face-off at the John A. Ryan Skating Arena is set for 7:05 p.m.
