WEST POINT, N.Y. - William Billingshurst scored twice in the third period to erase a one-goal deficit and lead the visiting Sacred Heart Pioneers to a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Army Tuesday night at Tate Rink.
Billingshurst, who victimized the Black Knights twice on Jan. 21, tied things up on the power play at 7:29 of the final frame. He then poked another past Army goalie Brad Roberts with just 1:26 left in the contest for the game winner. The Fort Collins, Colo., native has scored four of his nine goals on the season against Army (7-16-2; 2-12-2 Atlantic Hockey).
The Black Knights had taken a 1-0 lead with 1:03 left in the second period on a goal by senior Chris Garceau. Linemates Seth Beamer and Chad Fifield each received an assist on the play. However, Army could not hold a third period lead for the third time in the last four games. With the loss, the Black Knights drop to 3-8 on the season in one-goal games.
Roberts made 22 saves before being pulled for an extra attacker in the final 1:05. His counterpart, Kevin LaPointe stopped 29 shots to pick up the win for Sacred Heart (10-15-1; 10-5-1 AHA).
Army outshot Sacred Heart, 30-24.
The Black Knights return to action Friday and Saturday for a two-game series against Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa. Game time each night is 7:30 p.m.
