MILFORD, Conn. - Sacred Heart scored three goals in the first period and never looked back en route to a 5-1 victory over visiting Army Friday night at the Milford Ice Pavilion in Milford, Conn.
Chris Migliaro, returning to the rink where he grew up playing most of his youth hockey, netted the Black Knights' only goal of the season by banging in a rebound of a shot by Corey Rudd into an open net. His fourth tally on the year pulled Army (6-13-2; 2-9-2 Atlantic Hockey) within three, 4-1, but that was as close as the Black Knights would get all night.
Treye Kettwick made 17 saves in goal for Army. His counterpart, Jason Smith, stopped 27 shots for Sacred Heart (8-12-1; 8-4-1).
William Billingshurst scored the Pioneers' first two goals of the opening frame, and Defenseman Kalen Wright finished with three points on the night (1G, 2A).
Army and Sacred Heart will battle again Saturday night at Tate Rink at West Point. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
